Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Course
Course Description

The expanding market of non-medical Training Sites, created a need for BLS Instructor level that did not require an entry level of Healthcare provider skills. The Heartsaver Instructor course focuses on the skills necessary to teach all Heartsaver level courses. The AHA Heartsaver Instructor Course provides candidates with the knowledge and skill to instruct and evaluate Heartsaver providers. It is developed with a segment on educational principles that can be omitted when training the professional educator. The Heartsaver Instructor can teach the Heartsaver CPR, Heartsaver AED, Heartsaver AED with Pediatric CPR, Heartsaver CPR with AED, and Heartsaver CPR in Schools (for DoD Education Authority schools only).
Course Length:
1. One day-approximately 8 hours of Instructor training if participant is currently certified in CPR/AED.
2. Two days-approximately 8 hours each day for students who have not completed prior provider training (Day 1: Prerequisite Provider training; Day 2: Instructor Training).

Intended Audience
The Heartsaver Instructor course meets the needs of lay individuals in business, community, and school settings who wish to become BLS Instructors.
Student Materials: American Heart Association BLS Instructor Manual and Core Instructor Course Materials Order these materials prior to the class beginning Card Type: AHA Heartsaver Instructor completion card, issued on date student completes monitored teaching. Written/Skills Evaluation: Required for completion card.
